Hello & Welcome!
I believe in helping clients learn about themselves, and in doing so, learn about healthier alternatives to help them achieve the balance, wellness, and happiness they are looking for. Many people turn to unhealthy coping skills during difficult times in their lives, and I want to help them break free from these maladaptive patterns and live a healthier, more fulfilling life.
I hold an Associate's degree in Dietetics and Nutritional Management from Sinclair Community College, a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Ohio State University, and a Master's degree in Community Counseling from Wright State University. I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with Supervisory designation, a Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor, and a Registered Dietetic Technician. I have experience working in a variety of mental health settings including community mental health, private practice, and intensive outpatient/partial hospitalization levels of care with individuals struggling with eating disorders.
I enjoy working mainly with adults individually, but I also have experience working with groups, families, couples, and children/adolescents. I am particularly passionate about helping people achieve physical and emotional wellness, which is why I have additional education and training in the area of nutrition and eating disorders. I think it is such an important part of our overall health if we are eating well and taking care of both our bodies and our minds. I believe in a holistic, client centered approach to therapy. I draw on many different techniques to help clients towards their goals in a way that is gentle and compassionate, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). However, since there is no "one size fits all" approach to therapy, I consider my approach to be eclectic and based on the needs of each individual client.
